The site engineer will be Responsible for all the ongoing activities on the site including dealing with subcontractors and site workers depending on the project. For example
- Excvation/ Cutting or filling: Initially, the clients prepare the business plan for the project, primarily focusing on the project outcomes and then allocating the budgets accordingly. After that, they select the engineering consultants to design the project as per their requirements and conduct a topographic survey. The survey department then issues the coordinates for the project’s baseline. Once the project documentation, including the topographic surveys, is completed, the baseline for cutting and filling becomes clear. If the elevation is above the baseline, it will be cut, and the raw materials will be sent to the raw material stockpile. If backfill is needed, they will backfill with crushed materials according to the required standards.
- Backfill: The selection of backfill materials depends on the project location and soil classifications before design samples are collected to get information about the natural soil conditions and types, on the base of those test backfill materials designed.
- Compaction: Compaction of the backfill layers also depends on the thickness of the layers and the grade of materials. For example: 25 cm to 1M mostly 5 layers recommended as 25 cm per layer by roller compcations. Less than 1.5 m depth of HEIC compaction. For more than 2m depth Dynamic compaction is recommended.
